Hachinohe is known as a port city and large fleets come & go to the other stations including Tomakomai (Hokkaido), Ishinomaki (Miyagi pref.) or Oarai (Ibaraki pref.) etc. The “Hasshoku Center”, compound of seafood markets is well renowned for seafood.
In Feburuary, “Enbri” festival that celebrates coming Spring is on. During the period of “Enbri”, you’ll see many groups showing their performance. Non professional performers, or local people, team up for the festival, counting over 30 groups. The highlight is performance in a shrine, but they perform in many spots including commercial spots like Hasshoku Center, or city street including “Nonbei Yokocho” (literally “drinkers’ sidewalk”).
