Taro Okamoto Memorial Museum – Omotesando

Taro Okamoto (1911-1996) is renowned avant-garde artist who left abstract drawings and sculptures, in addition to many proverbs that express his philosophy – or world.

The largest his epoch is definitely “Tower of the Sun”, which is designed for expo 70′ held in 1970 in Osaka. The expo was a symbol of Japanese economic growth, and was an introduction to bright future following Tokyo Olympic in 1964.

The museum is a building where he lived and worked, and is not so large in scale but the essense of his work is condensed.

“Tower of the Sun”. The real one – 70m in height – stands still in Expo Park, in Osaka Suita City. Since it symbolizes expo in 1970 – or days of high ecoomic growth, it appears in many movies or TV dramas.
What do you see from there, my friend ?
