Ueno – located in the northeast of Tokyo metro area, and the place (including “Ameyoko”, or literally “Candy Store Street”) is originally self-developed after WWII as a marketplace of people to survive chaos with no order. Now you’ll see a variety of stores, but recently it seems they are transforming to “Izakaya” (dinning pub) area. Particularly in the category, many of places serve “Yakiton” (literally “grilled pork”) or skewed meats (pork, chiken, and beef) with alchole drinks.
Different from its view, it is of course safe to hang around, and is full of youngsters in the weekend from daytime.
