Originated as a place for silver casting from the beggining of Edo period (beggining of 17th Century), and next to Nihonbashi where the middle of Edo in that period, Ginza has been the center of cloth selling and therefore fashion. The area where clothe selling stores (or origins of department stores or even of current financial groups) used to be in line, has become a fashion district with global super brands.
